Instruction

I have worked with a broad range of people in developing their skills and overcoming uncertainties about skippering their own boat or crewing effectively. I tailor instruction to complement learning styles and empower individuals, groups and/or families with the skills and confidence necessary for safe, comfortable, and enjoyable voyaging; whether for a weekend in the San Juan Islands or an extended offshore voyage.

This could include:

• American Sailing Association (ASA) certification - Basic Keelboat, Coastal Cruising, Bareboat Chartering, Coastal Navigation.
• Teaching you skills to confidently and safely handle your new boat.
• Orienting your family and friends so they can relax and enjoy being on board and learn how to participate in a helpful way.
• Working with you on handling tough situations to be prepared for emergencies.
• Working with you on navigation, piloting your boat in tight situations and docking.
• Crew training.

Consultation

• Accompany a test sail on a boat you’re considering purchasing.
• Arrange a charter in your choice of location to make your dream vacation possible.
• Voyage planning and preparation including weather routing utilizing my extensive real world experience.

World Wide Yacht Delivery

Safely relocate your boat while providing onboard instruction or with a professional crew, so your boat is in place for your enjoyment.

Charter Skipper

Skipper a yacht that you charter, providing trip planning, navigation, boat handling and instruction if desired.

Yacht Captain

• Overall management of vessel (and all crew members aboard) both at sea and in port with Owner on-board or away.
• Providing logistics support, communication, navigation and general maintenance.
